Resound Magazine

Sunday, March 9, 2014

Last week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Catie King, founder of Resound Magazine, at Mad Hatters bakeshop and cafe in Durham. For those of you who don't know Catie is a pop/rock musician who was born and raised in Raleigh, NC. Catie attended UNC for her undergrad where she transformed her love for the local music scene into a career.

Catie is the brainchild behind Resound Magazine, which is a locally-focused, digital music magazine run entirely by students. In 2012, Resound was launched on UNC's campus and since then the network has ground to surrounding campuses including Duke and College of Charleston. As it says in their tagline, Resound Magazine is founded on the principle that, "every city has a soundtrack" and they believe that it's their job to highlight that sound.

The thing that sets Resound apart from other magazines in the area, is that it features the honest, straight-forward, and authentic opinions of the younger generation of the Triangle music scene. From its album reviews to photoblogs, Resound Magazine understands the beat of the music scene and they cover it in a fresh interesting way.

Catie and I discussed what artists we were listening to now and where we think the future of the industry is headed. We even talked about Catie's exciting plans to take Resound to NC State in the near future. Resound Magazine has the power to connect Triangle's college-aged music lovers and this is something we are really excited about. We know the journey down Tobacco Road is always better with the windows rolled down and your favorite song blasting through the speakers...so be sure to read Resound Magazine to find out about the music news in our area.
