Local Bands Local Beer

Monday, March 3, 2014

We couldn't be more obsessed with local college radio stations...and the "Local Band Local Beer" series at Tir Na Nog in Raleigh is just another reason why. Since 2007, NC State's station WKNC 88.1 has collaborated with local artists to present the LBLB event.

Each Thursday at 9:30pm 88.1 and Tir Na Nog present a free show featuring great music and tasty brews.

I'm especially excited to check out this week's show that features Clockwork Kids, Bridges and Numans. According to their Twitter account, Clockwork Kids (@clockkworkids) of Chapel Hill, will kickoff their Spring 2014 Southeast tour on Thursday night at LBLB. Clockwork Kids first caught my attention when they came to Stephen Talkhouse in East Hampton, NY this summer. Since then, Clockwork Kids have put together a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for the financing of their first full-length album. I am so excited to hear the results of a crowd-funded album.

"Watching them [Clockwork Kids] perform made it clear that they have a devout appreciation of music, and it is obvious in their musical energy on stage."
- Resound Magazine

Regardless of if your interested in checking out the sounds of Clockwork Kids or not I would urge you make your way to Tir Na Nog for one of these free shows this month and celebrate two of our favorites: local beer and bands. You can find more information about the series on their Twitter feed: @LBLBraleigh. Can't wait to see you guys out there!
